IT STARTED WITH A LOOONG WALK...

3000 kms, in fact!

Te Araroa is one of the world’s longest hikes, stretching from the top of New Zealand’s North Island to the bottom of the South Island. What’s that got to do with poop, you ask?

So there’s this beah called Ninety Miles Beach, which is actually 50 miles long, but it feels like it’s never-ending. There I saw a lot of seals, and a lot of dead ones. And one that I thought was dead… 

“Poor thing!” I cried out. “You’re still alive!” But just barely – the seal pup was dying and crying out in pain. Why? There had been many storms the last weeks, and some young seals born last season were not strong enough to fend for themselves in the wild waters. The result: lots of starved, dead seals. And one almost dead.

“Hey, thats an idea..” Having just stumbled upon a fresh water stream, I figured I could carry the poor seal there so it could recoup it’s powers. So I picked it up in order to carry it there and..
